: Meet the principals
Having graduated with an Hons degree in Electronics Engineering and a Masters in Software Engineering Gerry worked with Plessey Radar on Pulse Compression Radar simulations. He started working as an academic in 1984 and progressed within the North West Regional College to Deputy Director with responsibility for innovation, technology development and business integration, gaining his MBA along the way. As the Executive Director and now Chairman of the Northern Ireland Business and Innovation Centre (NORIBIC) he has gained substantial experience in developing and maintaining key relationships with senior personnel at high levels within the public and private sectors throughout Europe, USA and Australia. In addition throughout his life he has been actively involved in the clothing and footwear business through his involvement in the family business and this represents over 40 years in the clothing and footwear retail sector. Since 2009 he has retired from academia to pursue the business opportunity which he identified which combines his expertise in technology and the clothing and footwear retail sector. This opportunity to develop the online shopping Avatari.me experience is really exciting for him and he has pursued it relentlessly over the last five years engaging in market research and developing a number of demonstration prototypes
Duncan graduated with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and used this technical expertise to develop a vast experience in the development of computer games technology, in particular he is an expert in mathematical modelling and 3D simulations. He has developed these skills over the last 14 years working with some of the biggest names in the entertainment such as Nintendo, Sony, Warner Bros. His previous experience included Chief Technical Officer at D.R. Consultancy which is a team of industry veterans dedicated to providing technical, design and solutions for the games and software industry management and as Chief Technical Officer at Portal Entertainment a highly creative & innovative film striving to bring digital storytelling to a new level using latest platforms, technologies and innovations. He is an accomplished manager with in-depth technical knowledge and first hand director experience running his own company. Specialising in due diligence, technical guidance, project management, high level programming, cross platform conversions, engine development and outsourcing support. Barbara has recently completed a Masters in Business Administration where her dissertation was based on the development of technology within the fashion retail industry. Barbara has worked with, Dewhirst, one of the most prestigious of the companies involved in the design and development of fashion retail garments in Europe to supply a major high street retailer, Marks and Spencers. She worked with Dewhirst Ladieswear holding various positions at Senior level with responsibilities within a various number of disciplines including General Factory Management, Merchandising and IT Projects on both a domestic and a global scale reporting to Director and Managing Director levels of management. Barbara also holds honors and awards for The Worship Company of Woolman Medal in the Clothing and Footwear Institute, awarded for being outstanding in projects and examinations.
Christine graduated with a Master in Business Administration and since worked in USA, Ireland and China. She has a wide range of experience and skills set across various industries and cultures at all different levels. Her functional areas of expertise include strategic planning, strategy management, business development, cost optimization, new market opportunity assessment, branding strategy and cross-cultural communication. She is a proven executive and entrepreneur with extensive experience in the startup, sustainable energy, consumer goods and NGO market space.
